Finding the treasure in one's heart
The funny thing is that when I started to chase after this love for another, what I ended up doing was discovering that my love for her was joined with an equal or greater love for the spirit that lived within me. There is a temple dedicated to Buddha outside Jakarta Indonesia that was constructed in the 900s. The civilization that built it vanished and the temple got buried under a forest of vegetation. About 100 years ago an architect came across this temple when he was looking for a site to build upon. To his surprise he found Boroburdur. Buddha teaches that attain a true sense of happiness one must give up all desire and all regret. In short, he taught that all we really have is now. Live it fully. The Buddha called this awareness, the Awakening. To know that all you have ever wanted is now inside you. It is now yours. When I began to pursue this love for this woman, I started to get the feeling that what I was really looking for was deep inside me, buried under decades of neglect. My love for this woman was just the beginning of the treasure I was finding.
