The Invitation

I did not know exactly why I chose to go to Bali. Perhaps it was how Margaret Mead the famous anthropologist phrased the Balinese as being the happiest people in the world. I don't know exactly why I had to go by when my brother died over a year ago I realized that there are many questions in life that will remain sadly unanswered unless I go and pursue the golden replies to my questions - without delay - now.

An invitation is not an acceptance. It is, please come and visit. Let us see if you like us and if we like you.

In my painting the two dancers lift up a white scarf suggesting that I slow down and proceed with reverence for their land and customs. Two temple priestesses are laying down offerings at the portal of an ancient temple gate, which opens to the vast rice fields.
