The Goddesses of the River Forgiveness One day a year a village would place a clay cistern in a circle and everyone who had a sorrow, a grief, a grievance would place an object that represented their grief into the pot. When the day was finished, the clay pot full of objects would be carried to the river and ceremoniously poured into the waters of the Earth so that She could carry them away. |
